SCIENCE COLLEGE STATUS AT

SUTTON COLDFIELD GRAMMAR SCHOOL FOR GIRLS

 

 

The specialist science college status for SCGSG has focussed on 9 main objectives within the school:

 

SCIENCE TARGETS:

S1        Raising achievement in KS4 science

S2        Improving value added in A level Sciences

S3        Developing pupils as independent learners

S4        Raise attainment in Science investigation work at KS3 and KS4

 

MATHEMATICS TARGETS:

M1       Improve retention between AS and A2 Mathematics

M2       Use ICT to enhance teaching and learning in Mathematics

M3       Raise attainment in Mathematics investigation work at KS3 and KS4

 

WHOLE SCHOOL TARGETS:

W1      Increase the proportion of A* grades in all GCSE subjects

W2      Increase average overall GCSE point score

 

 

There are also 5 community targets for Science and Mathematics:

 

COMMUNITY TARGETS:

C1       Support teaching & learning in Science investigations at primary partner schools

C2       Contribute to development in attainment in Science for groups at secondary partner schools

C3       Contribute to development in attainment in Mathematics for groups at secondary partner schools

C4       Become a centre for technician training in conjunction with partners

C5       Enhance quality and range of basic Science and Mathematics courses for adult learners

 

 

All of these targets are addressed over a 4 year period using the Science College budget, overseen by the Science College Director (SCGSG) and Assistant Science College Director (Community).
